So yesterday in church, our pastor starts talking about how important a national anthem is for a country (of course we have no idea where he is going with this because we don't even realize it is independence day in America) and then says that all the American's are to come to the stage and sing our national anthem. Of course, none of us know the anthem. The pastor tells us we can use the promter to read the words, so we come around to the back where the screen is, to find out that they have the words to My country 'tis of thee. They have the words and music cued for this song, thinking it is our anthem, so we went along and sung it. I love Africa! We were happy that the pastor had been thoughtful enough to remember our Independence Day and celebrate it halfway around the globe! This was our last week at our rural African church, as we will have the next two weeks at Rift Valley Academy followed by some time at Tenwek Hospital.
