Little Blessings

A few weeks ago was a celebration day here in Nakuru, Day of the African Child. I mentioned it a couple of posts ago with the story of washing 1,000 eggs and how the Baby Centre was packaging 1,000 sack lunches for the children that attended. All of the volunteers at Baby Centre along with the director, Staci, took 5 of the toddlers from Baby Centre to participate in the celebrations. The day started with all of the participants walking across Nakuru town. It was quite a long walk for the little ones so we ended up carrying them most of the time and several of them fell asleep. The walk was a little chaotic as our kids were some of the smallest there and we kept getting pushed and engulfed by other groups of bigger kids. Our walk ended at a church in town where there was a program planned for the children. Several school and church groups performed and the pastor from the church we attend in Ngata said a prayer for all the children. Our kids were getting pretty restless about half an hour into the program so we decided it would be better to get them out of there and take them back to Baby Centre. On the way home, we stopped by Café Guava, a restaurant here in town, to give the kids their first restaurant experience. Us adults had mochas and a little snack while we ordered chips (French Fries) for the kids. The kids absolutely loved their restaurant experience. It was so fun to watch their personalities blossom outside of Baby Centre. They are some super fun people to be around! I am happy to say that in the past couple of weeks we have had two sweet girls go home with a Mommy and Daddy! What a wonderful thing to know that they are now in a place where they will know love from Mom and Dad and siblings. Pray for Jessica and Phyllis as they adjust to life at home. We are so excited for them and can’t wait to hear how they adjust! Please also pray that God would bring wonderful families forward for all the rest of our children.

I also want to introduce you to three new ones that we have had arrive since I last wrote. Sweet little Gloria came to us as a new newborn. We believe she was born the night before we got her or early morning the same day. Pray that she will grow well and that a loving family will be found for her. Nathan came to us as an alert and attentive 3 week old. We got him from a hospital in a nearby town. Pray that he will stay healthy and know love here at Baby Centre. Joel is an energetic 10 month old that came from Nakuru. He has struggled a bit in his first week here as he is older and understands that his environment has changed. Pray for peace for Joel and that he would feel safe and loved here at Baby Centre.
